How to Enable my Website to Pass from Sitemap.xml?

Hi Good Day! I have a website with owned Domain however in the SEO I achieved 68% I could have reach 80% atleast if this hosting provider "Infinityfree" would allow me to upload a my sitemap as per example http://example.com/sitemap.xml

In my case when I check it on Google Webmaster tool or Whatever Tool Searcher for .xml it says my sitemap cant be loacated. In an obvious reason the Root FTP of the hosting Doesn't allow us to upload it.. only on the sepcific folder as /htdocs

and Obviously has the file on the buttom part that says "DONT UPLOAD YOUR FILES HERE."

Thanks for the response admins and moderators and contributors or whoever reply to my post.

  • The main domain in your account is tied to the htdocs folder. So you need to upload your website files (including the sitemap file) to the htdocs folder.

  • Hi Admin and Yes, Its on the htdocs folder since everything won't be uploaded thru Root folder. but the question is how to Upload Files and Folders to its main root file not on a subfolder such as htdocs. because when google robots trying to locate a Sitemap.xml it cant detect that it is uploaded becuase it is rather located to a :root/htdocs/sitemap.xml instead which is meaningly not appropriate

so why is it not allowed for users to Upload on the main root specifically on the public_html

    Thanks Again Admin

  • google can retrieve sitemap and robots xml
because htdocs is a public directory
check if you have given a valid name for the sitemap, URL, etc.
what you call root is not public (all outside htdocs folder is not public)

  • even if you put files outside htdocs folder
how do you mean to write the URL address to those files?

    because http://www.domain.com/ = htdocs

you would then have to do something impossible like
    http://www.domain.com/minusLevelUpHere
and again you would not get files outside htdocs... than just http: //

The htdocs folder is not a subfolder, it's the main folder of your website. A file located at root/htdocs/sitemap.xml is reached through http://example.com/sitemap.xml. The files in the root folder of your account cannot be reached through your website in any way.

If you read instructions online saying you should upload it to the public_html folder, then you need to replace that with the htdocs folder. On cPanel servers, the public_html folder is the document root for the account's main domain. On VistaPanel servers, the htdocs folder is the document root for the account's main domain.
