FTP Login Issues

It looks like the problem is with the server. According to the site isitup.org, the site ftpupload.net is down.

The servers here are set up to block pings and network information requests. If isitup.org uses the technology I described above, it will always appear down. For me, ftpupload.net is working fine.

I’m getting the same ftpupload problems, and attempts to upload via file manager are aborted 'cos it’s infected with Blacklist (according to AVG)

If the blacklist is there in your system, you need to remove the domain from the list. If the service uses online blacklist mechanism, you need to ask the software support to help you out!

ftpupload.net is an FTP server, not a website server, so of course a website status checker will say that it’s down.

Before coming up with more diagnosis steps yourself, did you already try the things from our article that Greenreader9 shared?

Help, I cannot connect to FTP

  1. Login to Control Panel.
    No change.

  2. Correct Credentials
    Yes

  3. Change your password
Error occurs before getting this far.

  4. Check your router for ALG settings
    No issues, other FTP working.

  5. Correct IP Address?
    185.27.134.11:21, yes

  6. Try to connect with a VPN.
    No change.

What error?

In Total Commander, the error is “Connect Call Failed”, before it gets to any login screen.

In FileZilla, it’s…

|Status:|Resolving address of ftpupload.net|
|Status:|Connecting to 185.27.134.11:21…|
|Error:|Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity|
|Error:|Could not connect to server|

No, try changing your password from the “Edit Account” screen in the client area

Still can’t get there, and according the provider, they don’t block Port 21.

No, NOT with FTP. In the client area, open the account, go to edit settings, and change the password.

No change, but again, FTP times out before it ever gets as far as asking for login credentials.

Could you please try to get more detailed logs from FileZilla? It will give us more insight as to what’s actually happening with your connection.

Another thing to consider is that virus scanners or firewalls running on your own computer may block access to our FTP server, and using a VPN does not bypass that.

Here are the logs. But it’s happened on multiple computers, with no firewall and no antivirus running.

That’s with the log level configured as the guide said? It should log a lot more with that option enabled.

Are these computers on different networks as well?

I went out to Starbucks yesterday with one computer, running no antivirus program and no firewall. It timed out there as well.

Corporate networks may block port 21. Try at a friends house instead.

Just to state clearly: I think it’s very unlikely that this is an issue caused by our FTP server. If the FTP server was down, everyone here would be reporting issues. But right now, it’s just you, so it’s most likely to be something on your end.

These issues are usually caused by a network block, firewall or virus scanner, but I have no idea what kind of devices or networks you’ve tested or how they’ve been configured, so I can’t say for certain. So the bulk of figuring out this issue is on you, because the issue seems to be limited to you.

One thing you could try is to see if you can establish a connection to another FTP server. Could you try connecting with FTP to the hostname sv33.ifastnet11.org? That’s a premium server. You won’t be able to login, but you will be able to verify if this is an issue in connecting with our FTP server or with all FTP servers. In other words: do you get an authentication error or a connection error when connecting to that FTP server?

Yes, I get straight to a login screen on sv33.ifastnet11.org.
