FTP Settings for CuteFTP

Hi,

I am transferring my existing hosting account from another host (which has cPanel) to Infinityfree.

I am using CuteFTP as my FTP client of choice.

What should I use as my FTP settings?

The fields I need to populate are as follows:

Label:
Host address:
Username:
Password:
Port:

For login method I have 3 choices:

Anonymous, Normal or Double.

Can anyone advise me on this please?

Thanks.

Hi

login in client area >pick your account >read FTP Details section

Label - Provide a descriptive name for the Site, as it will appear in the Site Manager

Host - ftpupload.net

Login method - normal

Protocol - standard FTP or try some of SSL’s (if is working)

Thanks for that.

It worked in the sense that I got a connection and there was no error message.

However, when I try to upload a file to one of my sites it doesn’t work. Nothing happens and I get an asterisk next to the upload progress bar. I have tried this several times and it still doesn’t work.

Any idea how I can upload my files?

Thanks.

The Details on my CuteFTP State:

COMMAND:> [03/03/2019 15:04:51] STOR index.htm
STATUS:> [03/03/2019 15:04:51] Connecting FTP data socket… 185.27.134.11:34154…
[03/03/2019 15:04:51] 553 Can’t open that file: Permission denied
ERROR:> [03/03/2019 15:04:51] Access denied.

I have also tried to upload files using file manager from within my account. But this failed as well.

See screenshot for the error message I got.

So how do I upload files to my site? infinityfree-FTP-failed

If I’m not able to upload files then I won’t be able to use this hosting company, as the uploading of files is fairly central to the whole hosting process.

Does anyone have any ideas what is going wrong?

all files you upload must go to htdocs folder

OK. I have eight websites in my account.

Each website is contained in its own folder.

So I need to upload each folder to the htdocs folder, so that my eight website folders will all be inside the htdocs folder, is that right?

yes, htdocs is a public folder (it’s like www on the cpanel)

it would be better for you to divide your websites with different domains(or subdomains)
https://infinityfree.net/support/what-does-subdomain-addon-domain-parked-domain-mean/
as well as divide them in 3 ACC you have in client area
for this reason Query about resources assigned to the account

@entseo

not related to anything mentioned above, but as a future measure

I noticed that you mentioned the index.htm
shorter variant of html extension

briefly… the server has .htaccess instructions
to search for 3 files that will serve as a home page

but since you use a shorter variant .htm
read this Can't get index page to load

Every website will have it’s own folder. The domain which you used to create the account is probably linked to the htdocs folder. Any addon domains and subdomains added later on will have a folder matching the domain name, with another htdocs folder in them which should contain your webiste files.
