You can’t setup a CNAME record for the root of the domain name. It’s not just that InfinityFree doesn’t support it: DNS in general does not support CNAME records at the root of a domain! The root of your domain name is always locked to your hosting account.

If you want to host your website with GitHub pages, you could register a domain elsewhere and point it to GitHub. Domains on InfinityFree can only be used on InfinityFree hosting.
