Is there a limit to the length of filenames in this system?

Not that I know of. However, shorter is almost always better.

The limit would depend on the file system being used, and I don’t know exactly what file system is used on free hosting.
But most Linux file systems appear to have a limit of 255 bytes, so I suppose that limit applies here as well.
255 bytes is 255 ASCII characters, so letters, numbers and punctuation are fine, but non-latin characters or emoji will use multiple bytes.
