Migrating 1 custom domain to another

epiz_23003681 Migrating thetribag.com to triobags.com

Hi I am using infinity free hosting for this website, Domain name was - thetribag com now I moved it to triobags com
Of course it not so easy now. it is few hours after but I think something pointing in the wrong direction

I am unable to edit my wordpress intallation or what I am missing
Please let me know what I would need to change.

Error type:
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

DNS propagation takes about 72 hours. Your DNS is not yet completely propagated.

The nameservers for “thetribag.com” is wrong if you are trying to use it with InfinityFree

Ok, do you think in 72h all will be running fine. I think I might have missed changing something

Well it worked just a few hours ago. I am not planning to use thetribag domain anyway. Do you think I need to change the name servers there

I would just remove all the nameservers then (Unless you want to make it a 301 redirect)

Otherwise, I think triobags.com will start working within 72 hours. Check back if it still does not work

Aradot,

You can follow your domain name servers propagation here:

It seems that here in the UK (cambridge) is ticked, but still not working
Do you know if I need to change the wordpress intallation url

No.
If it was a problem with Wordpress URLs, the error message would be different.

Domain Checker to the rescue!

It says your nameservers are fine, but the domain is not assigned to a hosting account. Please add it to your account first.

Hi Admin, thanks for that I think this missing link on the domain cause the error. Now I’ve added parked triobags > thetribag.com. However I am not able to select the new domain from the account section yet.
The error has changed now > ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS.
Many thanks

Yep, you do get that redirect error. Can you share your .htaccess file please?

Not sure if this is right or not… but it could be because triobags.com is showing the redirect error.

Cannot post more than 2 links but you can guess the URLS

This is the only .htaccess on your site? Do you have any “reload” meta tags on your site?

On second thought, try clearing your cache (I can’t do it on the computer I’m on right now, so it could be why I’m seeing the wrong thing also)

Not aware of any reload meta tags. Where they should be located?
Tried the cache - no difference

Hop found another .htaccess

redirectMatch 301 ^(.*)$ http://triobags.com
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress

This rule is the issue. It’s created through the Redirects tool.

The Redirects tool is useful, but can only be used to redirect to other websites. If you try to use it to redirect from a parked domain to the domain it’s parked on (or vice versa), use it to redirect from www to non-www (or vice versa) or use it to redirect to HTTPS, then you’ll get a redirect loop. That’s because the currently redirect will send people to http://triobags.com even if they are already on http://triobags.com.

Thank you so much guys resolved. The issues were:

  1. control panel pointing to the old domain - parking the domain worked
2 htaccess redirect line - deleted and now it worked
    Thanks
