Moving from a paid host to InfinityFree

Hello, currently i’m paying a host and a domain, and tomorrow my host license ends.
I want to try InfinityFree and see how it works.
Is it possible to use my .com domain with InfinityFree Host?
Will i be able to transfer all my PHP data from my previous host to infinityFree so i have the same Website? (I’m currently using a WordPress Theme)
Thanks a lot.

If you can download your files and database backup from your old host, then you can host your website here.

And of course you can use your own domain name.

I got all my files downloaded from my current host. i downloaded all the files that were inside “public_html” so i think that is all the web files.
Can you guide me how to use my own domain? Currently this is my infinityfree page http://rigerperforaciones.epizy.com/?i=1 and my paid domain is regierperforaciones.com
Thank you!

Also, i conected to my infinity FTP with FileZilla and delted all files to try to upload my previous host files. I’m able to create directories, but i cant upload any files, im trying to upload a 200k .jpg file but it gets autoamically deleted after i upload them. Any idea on why that happens?
Thanks a lot!

Make sure you’re uploading to the htdocs folder.

Ha! Got it now. I can upload images and they stay in that folder.
So if i paste all my web files that i have in my previous host i have to paste them there?
Thanks!

Yep, that’s it. Just move the contents from the public_html folder from your old host to the htdocs folder in your account here.

You can add your own domain through the parked or addon domain sections. You can read about the different options here: Docs - InfinityFree Forum

I don’t think you’ve explained the MySQL database part yet.

I moved all my files into htdocs and now when i go into my url http://rigerperforaciones.epizy.com/ i get this message “Error al establecer una conexin con la base de datos” that translated in english is something like “Error when establishing the conection with the data base.”
Any idea why?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

I suspect it’s another configuration issue. Please check the settings in wp-config.php.

I’m sorry, im a little new when it comes to programing web.
This is what a see in wp-config.php. Can you help me to see what i’m looking for or what is the problem in this file?
Thanks!

This is the wp-config.php

First of all, change your account password IMMEDIATELY. Never, ever, ever post your passwords on a forum.

Specifically, all database details are wrong. The file is very well commented so it should be easy to figure out which variables are what. See the MySQL Databases section in your control panel for the correct values.

I edited wp-config.php and put my MySQL databases information in the following variables:
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘XXX’);

/** Tu nombre de usuario de MySQL */
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘XXX’);

/** Tu contrasea de MySQL */
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘XXX’);

/** Host de MySQL (es muy probable que no necesites cambiarlo) */
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘XXX’);

But in this two variables i didn’t change anything becouse i didn’t know what to put

/** Codificacin de caracteres para la base de datos. */
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘’);

/** Cotejamiento de la base de datos. No lo modifiques si tienes dudas. */
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ‘’);

Now if you enter to my web you can see that it works but with the default wordpress template. Somehow it doesn’t recognite my previous wordpress template. I uploaded all files from my previous host here and only edited the wp-config.php

Any idea what can i do? I will try to contact Wordpress suport too.
Thanks and sorry again for all the questions.

If you set the top four variables to their correct value and didn’t touch the two other values, that’s good. That’s all that needed to be done.

As for the template, I don’t understand what you mean. Does the theme show up in the Wordpress theme manager? Your site right now doesn’t look like a standard Wordpress template I know, so were you able to solve the problem?

The theme showup in my Wordpress manager, but only the default theme without any entries or any changes i make.
Did i needed to export something more from my last host beside all the files from public_html? I have all the exact files in htdocs that i had in public_html, the only thing that i changed was the 4 variables in wp-config.php

Some people is telling me that i needed to export the Database too?
Maybe that is my problem.

Yes, Wordpress uses a database to store it’s content, so you need to move your database as well when you’re moving a Wordpress site.

The Wordpress docs have the steps you need to take to move a Wordpress installation. Make sure you follow all the steps: Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex

Ok, so i needed to pay one more year with my last host service becouse it was the only way that i can get my database files.
I exported the database files from my previous host and imported them in my new database here.
Now when i go into rigerperforaciones.epizy.com it redirects me to http://rigerperforaciones.com/ that is hosted in my previous host.
How can i make it not redirect into that link and use rigerperforaciones.epizy.com?
I want to leave it well configured so i can leave my paid host and stay only with infinity
Thanks a lot for your responses.

EDIT: Maybe i shuld do this?

Go into phpMyAdmin and find the wp_options table. There are a few options there (one is called site_url, but there may be more) which contain the website URL. Find and change those to your subdomain so Wordpress knows it’s supposed to run on it.

I changed it but it stills redirect to my paid domain and not to my epizy domain.

Do you know where shuld i keep searching?
I looked into all the tables in my database but i didn’t find any site_urls from my paid domain.
Thanks a lot.
