Yes, the lack of at .htaccess file is what’s causing this problem. You need to have a .htaccess file to be able to use “pretty” URLs (like http://weekard.ga/2016/10/24/oct4/ instead of http://weekard.ga/wp-posts.php?id=1234). Without the .htaccess file, the webserver will look for the page in a non-existent directory which is why it fails.
