When i try to open a file it's just a blank screen, even tho the website itself works

Does this happen when you download the file with FileZilla and open it with a local text editor or IDE? The online file manager is buggy and generally should not be used to edit files, especially big ones.

I tried to open the file locally, and it looks like there is some funky data in it that doesn’t seem like proper UTF-8 encoded text.

The file manager assumes the file is UTF-8 encoded, so if a text file is corrupted or uses the wrong encoding, the file manager cannot open it.

Please try opening the source files on your own computer and make sure that they are stored with UTF-8 encoded. Most good editors will do so automatically, but some (notably Windows Notepad) don’t.
