Why Doesn't http://catewrites.ml/wp-admin/install.php Work?

Hi,
I’m trying to install WordPress on my Web Server and one of the steps I have to follow is to key in http://catewrites.ml/wp-admin/install.php in the browser address box. (By the way, I’m using Mozilla Firefox.)
When I press “Enter,” an InfinityFree page pops up and reads the following:

“404 Page Not Found. The page you were looking for could not be found! If you entered the URL manually, please double check what you’ve entered. If you clicked a button, please click the back button in your browser.”

I triple-checked my URL but didn’t find any mistakes. I know it’s not the “https” because the tutorial I’m following says to type in “http.”

P.S. For more details, I didn’t add a MySQL user because it’s not free; is that the problem?..

Thanks.

Have you upload the Wordpress inside htdocs folder?
(Note that the first time you logged in through FTP, they will show root directory, which is upload-restricted; any file that uploaded to root will automatically deleted.)

The 404 means that the uploaded file isn’t found.

The htdocs folder is inside a xampp folder and contains another folder named wordpress. Is that what you’re talking about?

@MissCate

If you are new to the hosting service, then you will need to upload your wp files to the “Root” folder or htdocs. Htdocs is called public_html to other web hosting provider.

@UnknownLolz, okay. Do I do that in my File Explorer? (Sorry for the late reply, I was eating dinner. :smiley: )

Yes you can but you can also use the File Manager in the control panel.

It’s okay, you don’t really need to say sorry.

Alright, I’ll try that. Thank you very much!
