Trying to install jetpack on my wordpress site, in order to restore a vaultpress backup.
After pressing Activate i recieve this error

cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

This error is caused by the fact that our hosting doesn’t support something called CA Chains or Intermediary Certificates. Because of that, some browsers and many automated tools don’t properly recognize the SSL certificates installed on our hosting.

Your options to fix this basically boil down to:

  • Move your site to premium hosting which does support CA chains.
  • Use Cloudflare on your site. Cloudflare’s SSL does provide CA chains.
