Over the last few weeks, many people have experienced intermittent connectivity issues with their databases, like MySQL server has gone away. We suspect that these issues are being caused by old hardware which is unable to handle the load.
It has taken longer than we’ve hoped, but the new database servers are almost ready and are currently being prepared to be taken in use.
This week, all databases will be moved to the new hardware. In order to migrate everything without data loss, the servers will be taken offline during the migration. We expect every database to be down for around 1 hour.
We’re terribly sorry for the issues people have experienced recently with their databases and will experience this week.
But we expect the new and much faster hardware to really boost the performance and reliability of your website, and that this will be worth the pain!
