wordpress: Uploading a file inside /htdocs/ leads to Page Not Found.

What is the reason for this problem? I tried to upload a file inside /htdocs/ to create a live link for a free offer but it says Page Not Found.

Can you please provide the actual URL on your own website on which you expected to be able to get a file from? I’d like to know how the file is served from your website, not from ours
